Overview
Migrant workers are a central part of India’s society and economy today. But while there has been some discussion and analysis of the experiences of male migrant workers, the conditions faced by women workers have received less attention. In this comparative study across three states – Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and Delhi – we found that the oppression faced by migrant women casual workers is extreme and should have no place in a modern society. The study also examines some possible ways forward out of this situation.
