Overview
With the exception of Marx, Schumpeter himself selected the ten main essays for inclusion in this volume and was personally acquainted with all but two of his subjects. Initially considering them unworthy for publication he relented in the face of public demand since the journals in which they originally appeared were difficult to obtain.
Joseph Aloïs Schumpeter was an Austrian political economist. He briefly served as Finance Minister of Austria in 1919. In 1932, he became a Professor at Harvard University where he remained till the end of his career. Schumpeter was one of the most influential economists of the 21st century, and popularized the term “creative destruction” in economics.
